 2016 Madison County Fair
Tuesday, July 26 - Sunday, July 31

WELCOME TO THE 2016
MADISON COUNTY FAIR

Thank you for choosing to learn about the 2016 Madison County Fair. We know you have many options when deciding what activities to attend during the summer. We feel we have one of the best County Fairs in the State of Illinois. Whether you come for the livestock shows – we have cattle (both beef and dairy), swine, sheep, poultry, pigeons, rabbits, goats, OR the 4-H shows – we have over 350 youth project exhibitors with everything from art to photography to wood working, OR the Floriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Products and Culinary projects (wish I could judge the pies and cakes), OR the arena events – Tractor Pull, Combine and Car Demolition Derby, Rodeo, Saturday night UMP Stock Car Racing, OR the Queen Pageant, OR the Children Pedal Tractor Pull and the Little Miss Pigtail, OR perhaps just for the Fair food, entertainment (bands every night) and refreshments
--- NO MATTER WHY YOU COME OUT
--- THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
It is no secret that the State of Illinois has been very lax in their support of many causes. And the Madison County Fair is no different. We have not received any reimbursement from the state since March of 2015. It is very hard for most fairs to continue at a level that all are accustomed to. Here in Madison County we are very fortunate that the previous Fair Boards took it upon themselves to build up some reserves to allow the fair to not only survive but to improve and push forward. We have tremendous support from the community. The general board members all work very hard to bring you the fair. It takes a small army of dedicated individuals (well over 200) to keep the fairgrounds looking nice, to work as department superintendents, to work as judges for the various shows, to work the ticket booths, the office
– well you get the point!

I am personally thankful for the Executive Board
and all their input and guidance.

Now – what can you do to help you ask?
SUPPORT THE MADISON COUNTY FAIR!
I promise you that your Executive Board will not let this fair fade away. HOWEVER, we can only do so much without proper funding. That is why we are increasing our fund raising efforts. We hold a Chicken and Beer dance usually in late February, we started a new “Tractor Raffle” this year (please see anyone associated with the fair for tickets), we rent the Expo Building and fairgrounds out for other events throughout the year (you should come see the “Vintage Days” held in the Spring and Fall) and we are holding our first BBQ Competition this year in August in Marine, Illinois. It’s our first time venturing away from the fairgrounds for an event.

I am so proud to be the President of the Madison County Fair Association. Everything we do is done with heartfelt thanks for those that went before us and with an understanding that we must leave a legacy for those that will follow us. Please enjoy your time at the fair this year, thank a volunteer and be sure to come back often.
Respectfully Yours,
Wayne P. Steiner
President – Madison County Fair Association
